Balmedie Leisure Centre is a charitable organisation, established in 1986 as a Management Committee of local volunteers to

"provide a range of community learning, sporting and leisure based opportunities to individuals and community groups at reasonable cost"

The programme of use of the facilities is made up from requests from existing groups using the Centre and new enquiries.  If there is time available for use within the programme, then any suggestions will be considered.  A broad range of activities is listed in the programme.  Some sessions such as 50+ Bingo are subsidised and other activities are assisted to get established.  Representatives of the respective groups are encouraged to join the Management Committee to contribute to the running of the Centre.

The Centre applies for funding on an annual basis to Aberdeenshire Council towards the costs of running the facility and generates funds from admissions and fundraising.
